MASTER OF EDUCATION IN TESOL

in collaboration with EDITH COWAN UNIVERSITY (Australia)  

PHASE 2 – COHORT 1 – YEAR 2022

 

1. COURSE OBJECTIVES:

The Master of Education in TESOL program aims at promoting teaching professionals which is quite practice-oriented. It provides professional educators:

  • a comprehensive overview of issues in TESOL, with specific focus on current TESOL teaching methods in Vietnamese settings;

  • skills and practice necessary to implement successfully as TESOL teachers at Universities, Colleges, High schools, and Foreign Language Centers;

  • an opportunity to enhance each individual’s capacity for open, critical reflective thinking about second language teaching practice.

2. REQUIREMENTS:

  • Candidates with a Postgraduate Certificate in Theory and Methods of Teaching English Major (Graduate Diploma in TESOL) from the Open University of Ho Chi Minh City or those holding a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching Teaching English at other training institutions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Candidates must have an English proficiency certificate: IELTS 6.5 (no band below 6.0) or equivalent.

3. SCHEDULES:

  • 3 terms per year in March - June - September (2 subjects / 1 semester)
  • 8 - 10 consecutive days for each session including weekdays and weekends (8:00 - 16:30)
  • 97 Vo Van Tan, Vo Thi Sau Ward, District 3, City. Ho Chi Minh.

4. NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS: 30 - 35 students

5. TEACHING TEAM: 100% of the lecturers are from Edith Cowan University (Australia) and Tutor lecturers from the Open University of Ho Chi Minh City.

6. DIPLOMA:

Master of Education (TESOL) is conferred by Edith Cowan University (Australia).

7. TUTION: (Pay by VND according to Vietcombank exchange rate at the time when tuition notice is created)

  • 8,550 AUD/ 6 subjects (1,425 AUD/ 1 subject).

8. FORM OF ADMISSION: Applications will be filtered and selected.

9. APPLICATION FEE: 400,000 VND/ candidate

10. APPLICATION CHECKLIST:

  • 1 Authorization letter to enroll in the course (download here)
  • 1 Curriculum Vitae (download here)
  • 2 notarized copies of University diploma
  • 1 copy of University transcript
  • 1 notarized copy of Certificate of English Proficiency
  • 1 notarized copy of Postgraduate Certificate in English Teaching
  • 1 notarized copy of Graduate Certificate transcript
  • 1 copy of National Identity Card
  • 4 photos 3 x 4 cm (within 6 months from the date of application)

Note: University diplomas, transcripts of undergraduate degrees, graduate certificates and transcripts of graduate certificates must have a notarized English translation if the documents are issued in Vietnamese.

11. TIMELINE
