MASTER OF EDUCATION (TESOL)

in collaboration with EDITH COWAN UNIVERSITY (Australia) 

1. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

The Master of Education in TESOL program aims at promoting teaching professionals which is quite practice-oriented. It provides professional educators:

• A comprehensive overview of issues in TESOL, with specific focus on current TESOL teaching methods in Vietnamese settings;
• Skills and practice necessary to implement successfully as TESOL teachers at Universities, Colleges, High schools, and Foreign Language Centers;
• An opportunity to enhance each individual’s capacity for open, critical reflective thinking about second language teaching practice.

 

2. MODULES OF THE PROGRAM

Students are required to complete 02 phases with 13 modules.

3. REQUIREMENTS AND SCHEDULES FOR PHASE 1:

Requirements for Phase 1:

• Bachelor of English or TESOL, and
• IELTS 6.5 (no individual band less than 6.0) or equivalent

Schedule for Phase 1:

• Courses last 07 months, at weekends (morning 8:30 and afternoon 13:30-16:30)
• Commence twice a year in March & September, at 97 Vo Van Tan, Xuan Hoa Ward, HCMC

 

4. REQUIREMENTS AND SCHEDULES FOR PHASE 2:

Requirements for Phase 2:

• Successful completion of Phase 1, and
• IELTS 6.5 (no individual band less than 6.0) or equivalent

Schedule for Phase 2:

• Courses last 12 months, on weekdays and at weekends (about 8-10 continuing days per a learning period in March, June and September)
• Commence twice a year in March & September, at 97 Vo Van Tan, Dist 3, HCMC

7. DEGREES

• Phase 1: Graduate Diploma of TESOL conferred by HCMCOU. Diploma holders can continue studying the second phase at HCMCOU or at ECU.
• Phase 2: Master of Education (TESOL) conferred by ECU.
